MARJOLIN (Jean, Nicolas). - Lot 171
MARJOLIN (Jean, Nicolas). Born in Ray-sur-Saône, 1780 - died in Paris, 1850. French surgeon. Professor at the Paris Faculty of Medicine, surgeon at Hôtel-Dieu and then surgeon to the King. His name is associated with "Marjolin's ulcer", a cancerous degeneration of certain chronic lesions. Autograph letter signed "Marjolin", addressed to Dr. Laborie. Paris, October 12, 1833. 1 page in-8. Address on verso. Concise bill in which Marjolin expresses his regrets at not being able to attend a meeting with his correspondent and dermatologist Jean-Louis Alibert, a founding figure of French dermatology. Interesting testimony to relations between leading Parisian practitioners under the Restoration and the July Monarchy.
