MARILLAC (Michel de). - Lot 169
MARILLAC (Michel de). Born in Paris in 1560 - died in 1632. Superintendent of Finances (1624-1626), then Keeper of the Seals of France (1626-1630). Signed "Demarillac", with a few autograph words. Paris, March 1624. 1 page small in-8 oblong on vellum. Interesting partial autograph receipt relating to a family property matter. Michel de Marillac, then advisor to the King in his Conseil d'État, acknowledges having received the sum of six livres five sols in connection with the rights and interests of his wife, Marie de Saint-Germain, his father's heir. The document, written in the secretary's hand, is completed before signature by an autograph note from Marillac stating: "Quittance de six livres cinq sols", attesting to the actual payment of the sum. Rare testimony to the administrative and financial practices of a great officer of the monarchy at the very moment of his accession to the highest offices, shortly before his disgrace under Richelieu. Autograph signature.
