JULIENNE (Madame) - Lot 121
JULIENNE (Madame) Stylist with Paul Poiret and Robert Piguet L.A.S. signed "Julienne", addressed to Bernard Grasset Paris, undated [Monday], 1 page and 2 lines in-folio, on letterhead of the J. Suzanne Talbot couture house, 14 rue Royale. Charming letter combining personal news and echoes of the Parisian literary scene. The author apologizes for his silence due to illness: "I've just had another bad flu..." She thanks her correspondent for the newspapers and articles received, which she deems : "amazing, especially Candide". and mentions Jean Giraudoux's health, whom she won't be able to see until the following morning. The letter closes with an invitation to continue their conversation: "Would you like to see me on Wednesday evening? I'll let you know about our conversation..." An interesting account of relations between the world of Parisian haute couture, publishing and the literary world between the wars. Beautifully presented with the superb letterhead of J. Suzanne Talbot, a well-known figure in Parisian fashion in the 1920s-1930s. Very fine condition.
