GARÇON (Maurice). - Lot 87
GARÇON (Maurice). Lille, 1889 - Paris, 1967. Lawyer at the Paris bar, historian and essayist. Member of the Académie française. Autograph letter signed "Maurice Garçon" to "Mon cher Ami" [Bernard Grasset]. Paris, July 28, 1931. 1 page in-8 oblong. Engraved headed paper with his address and cipher. Charming letter addressed to publisher Bernard Grasset. Garçon thanks his correspondent for his Remarques sur le bonheur and elegantly adds: "I'm going to read them under my trees in the fields, which also constitutes one of the forms of happiness..." A lovely, intimate, literary piece, testifying to the exchanges between a great lawyer-writer and a major publisher of the first half of the 20th century.
