CHARLES PHILIPPE DE FRANCE (1757-1836). - Lot 37
CHARLES PHILIPPE DE FRANCE (1757-1836). Comte d'Artois, became King of France and Navarre under the name of Charles X. Brevet de la Garde nationale, printed (Didot), partly printed and signed "Charles Philippe", "Le Duc de Montmorency", "Le Cte Dessolle" (griffes). Paris, October 1, 1815. Oblong broadsheet vellum. Beautiful engraved frame. Coat-of-arms stamp under paper. Patent issued to Hypolite Louvet, born in Paris on December 20, 1797, notary clerk and chasseur in the 1st company of the Legion. The document confers on the recipient the right to wear the Lys decoration, an emblematic insignia of the Restoration, awarded to the Paris National Guard: "... to the impetrant the right to wear the decoration of the Lily as granted to the National Guard of Paris..." An important testimony to the first Restoration and to the policy of building loyalty in the civil and military corps after the fall of the Empire. The joint presence of the printed signatures of Charles Philippe (future Charles X) and high dignitaries reinforces the historical interest of the piece, emblematic of the transition period between Empire and Restored Monarchy.
