Paris, November 5, 1900 (date worn). 1 page in-8 on printed letterhead "Exposition de canots automobiles", with autograph address on verso. Interesting letter from Jean-Baptiste Berlier, written in a context of intense technical and relational activity, at a time when the engineer was developing his projects related to transportation and mechanical innovations. Written on a letterhead evoking an industrial event, it bears witness to his involvement in the technical circles of the Belle Époque. The content, of a practical nature, evokes the steps he took and exchanges with his correspondent, in a direct and professional style characteristic of these networks of engineers and exhibition organizers. This piece illustrates the circulation of ideas and initiatives in an environment marked by rapid advances in transportation techniques at the end of the 19th century.
