BANCEL (Jean-Baptiste, François, Désiré). - Lot 8
BANCEL (Jean-Baptiste, François, Désiré). Born in Lamastre (Ardèche) in 1822 - died in 1871. French lawyer and politician, Montagnard representative for Drôme, radical deputy for Lyon. Autograph letter signed "D. Bancel", addressed to "Mon cher [Seniau]". S.l., May 11, 1870. 1 page in-8. Interesting political letter written during Bancel's convalescence, in which he expresses his strong desire to keep abreast of the debates of the Corps législatif. He refers to a "long and painful convalescence", forcing him to take absolute rest, but nevertheless asks to receive the Journal officiel in Valence in order to follow the discussions and "at least hear the echoes". This testimony sheds light on the constant commitment of a Montagnard deputy on the eve of the fall of the Second Empire, anxious not to be cut off from political news despite his illness. Autograph signature.
