BAILBY (Léon). - Lot 7
BAILBY (Léon). Director of the newspaper L'Intransigeant from 1905 to 1932. Autograph letter signed "Léon Bailby", addressed to M. Largy. Paris, October 28, 1908. 1 page. A witty and lively piece in which Bailby recalls a social setback: he had to go to the theater with a friend who had finally withdrawn, and was forced to give the box back to his correspondent. With a sense of formula that betrays the pressman, he humorously adds that, the play being a success, it won't be difficult to replace it. A short letter revealing the light, elegant tone of an influential journalist of the Belle Époque, then head of one of Paris's leading dailies.
