AVENEL (Georges, vicomte d'). - Lot 5
AVENEL (Georges, vicomte d'). Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1855 - died in 1939. French historian and economist. Autograph letter signed "Vte G. d'Avenel", addressed to Léon Labbé. Paris, Friday, August 30, 1912. 4 pages in-8. Retained envelope. Interesting letter combining personal considerations and administrative intervention. The Viscount d'Avenel apologizes for a delay in replying to Senator Léon Labbé, whom he assures of his support in an ongoing initiative. In passing, he mentions a family trip through Germany, Austria and Turkey, before specifying his imminent return to Paris for the Sedan anniversary. Finally, he expresses the hope that the authority of his correspondent will overcome the resistance of a department of the Ministry of Agriculture, whose unwillingness he implicitly denounces. A revealing document on the networks of influence in the Third Republic, where personal relationships and political intervention were combined in administrative affairs. Autograph signature.
