L'Enquête corse. - Lot 68
L'Enquête corse.
Glénat, 2010. In-4 hardback, boards illustrated in color.
2010 reprint of René Pétillon's masterpiece, arguably the most famous adventure of detective Jack Palmer. Awarded Best Album at the 2001 Angoulême Festival, this comic strip has become an instant classic of satirical humor. Palmer is sent to Corsica on a simple case of inheritance, which quickly turns into a hilarious political and police imbroglio.
Pétillon's vivid, precise style serves up an ingenious deconstruction of clichés about Corsica. Between nationalists with multiple demands, outdated police officers and immutable local traditions, the author delivers a caricature full of finesse and tenderness, whose success was crowned by a memorable film adaptation.
