STANISLAS NIKIREEV (1932-2007) Winter landscape Etching, signed, numbered 16/80 15 x 15 cm Stanislav Mikhailovich Nikireev trained at the Penza School of Fine Arts, then at the Surikov Institute (Moscow's academic art institute). He studied engraving under M. N. Aleksich and drawing under E.A. Kibrik (1906-1978). A member of the Union of Artists of the USSR from 1970, he pursued a traditional career for artists in the USSR, winning numerous official awards: - diploma from the USSR Academy of Arts for a series of landscapes and still lifes in 1974 . - winner of the Repin Prize in 1978 (State Prize of the RSFSR) for a series of etchings of landscapes in the Moscow region. In 1978, he was awarded the Silver Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts, again for his landscape engravings. And in 1983, he was named a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts. After perestroika, he continued to create and to be appreciated. In 2002, he became a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, where he was awarded the Gold Medal. Stanislav Nikireev died at the age of 75 in 2007.
