French painter, sculptor, draughtsman and engraver belonging to the École de Paris. He started out as an imaginative painter. At the time, he was professor of decorative composition at the École Estienne in Paris and professor of painting at Atelier A of the Scandinavian Academy. Waroquier painted mainly in Brittany from 1900 to 1910, before moving to his studio in Montparnasse, where he frequented Modigliani and the École de Paris.
With his independent spirit, he acquired a solid artistic training that went against the conventions of his time. Always on the lookout for new means of expression, he was the first French artist to combine sculpture and photography, reflecting on the relationship between creation and the ephemeral.
