He later participates in the Fauvist and Cubist movements and is one of the founders of the Groupe de Puteaux. San Lazzaro launched his illustrated magazine XXe siècle in 1938. He called on contemporary painters to include genuine original prints, notably by Kandinsky, Hans Arp, Chirico, Miro, etc., making this one of the most important art magazines alongside Albert Skira's Minotaure.
