RODIN (Auguste).
Born in Paris. 1840-1917. French sculptor and draughtsman. Considered one of the fathers of modern sculpture. Autograph Note Signed "Rodin" to "Mon cher ami" [Gustave Geffroy]. [Paris, March 17, 1888]. 1 p. in-12. Envelope enclosed.
Gustave Geffroy (1855-1926) was a man of letters, journalist and art critic, and a close friend of Claude Monet and Cézanne, who painted his portrait. He met Rodin in 1883, after publishing a glowing article on the sculptor. A long friendship ensued.
