MONTESQUIOU (Robert de). - Lot 168
MONTESQUIOU (Robert de). Born in Paris. 1855-1921. Man of letters, "insolent dandy", he served as a model for des Esseintes in Huysmans' À Rebours and for Proust in La Recherche du temps perdu for Baron de Charlus. L.A.S. "R. de Montesquiou" in pencil to "Cher Monsieur". S.l., September 20, 1921. 1 page in-4. Montesquiou, a few months before his death (December 11, 1921), very weakened, warns ...that there will still be a formality to fulfill, when the official consent will have come, according to my notary. I'm leaving on the 15th of next month, for about 6 months. In that case, perhaps you could inform the right people, so as not to delay our regularization. He who lives will see, and chances are it will be you. I hope that a future in which you will be present will find everything in order, when the time comes...
