KERENSKY (Alexandre) [JAURÈS (Jean). 1859-1914]. - Lot 133
KERENSKY (Alexandre) [JAURÈS (Jean). 1859-1914]. Born in Russia. 1881-1970. Russian politician and lawyer. Sepia postcard photograph of Jean Jaurès, signed "A. Kerensky" and "A. Ky". S.l., [Paris], June 11, 1918. Dimensions: 14 cm x 9 cm. Published by Librairie du Parti Socialiste. 12 Rue Montmartre. Slight paper loss at lower left. Kerensky was a member of the Socialist Revolutionary Party at the time of the Bolshevik uprisings. He himself became head of the Provisional Government, but was ousted at the time of the October Revolution, or Red October in 1917. He went into exile in Paris, where he wrote extensively on the Russian revolutionary period. When the Germans arrived in Paris in 1940, Kerensky was forced to flee once again, and settled in New York. Kerensky will go down in history as the first person to offer Russia its first democratic transition.
