VERY RARE BILLET FROM THE FAMOUS AMERICAN DANCER CONSIDERED THE MUSE OF THE BELLE-ÉPOQUE:...Come to the Figaro tomorrow at 5 and ask for me. Je suis la - Entendu pour jeudi prochain, Gab nous emmène j'espère...It was in 1892 that Loïe Fuller made her Paris debut at the Folies Bergères, where she enjoyed great success for the next ten years. The painter Toulouse-Lautrec, fascinated by the hypnotic swirls of the dancer's veils, painted several famous portraits of her. In her choreographies, Loïe Fuller performs enveloped in long veils, which she shakes with chopsticks while whirling on a glass slab backlit by beams of light of different colors, while cleverly placed mirrors reflect her image to infinity. Her creativity and intelligent use of technological advances fascinated symbolist poets like Mallarmé, as well as sculptors, filmmakers and scientists. Loïe Fuller maintained a romantic relationship with Gabrielle Bloch, known as "Gab", one of her admirers. They shared their lives until the dancer's death.
