DELAFOSSE ( Jules). - Lot 85
DELAFOSSE ( Jules).
Born in Ponfarcy. 1943-1916. Writer, journalist and politician. M.A.S. "Jules Delafosse". S.l.n.d. 4 pages 3/4 in-8 (hinges are sticky).
Infuriated by recent political decisions, Delafosse rises up against parliamentarians ...Bankruptcy is at your doorstep, criticized Mirabeau, at the Constituent Assembly. This oratory has remained famous (...). Mirabeau's successors, by which I mean the parliamentarians of our time, are familiar with it (...). Bankruptcy is on their doorstep, where they deliberate as if they knew nothing about it. In fact, they want nothing to do with it. Bankruptcy is a sinister word that will never fit into the artificial phraseology they have made their language. To counter imminent bankruptcy, they resort to tax and borrowing. As they have trained their people to endure everything, they do not worry about the reception they might give to such a painful expedient... He considers ...When a people has allowed itself to be entrusted with democratic and republican pantalonnades, its case is more or less hopeless (...). Only one thing affects it: a hitch in its purse (...). This is precisely the mistake our government is currently making... Jules Delafosse mentions a number of political projects which he considers unreasonable, ...But then, does this mean that the yawning deficit in the budget will never be made up? In the meantime, the Republic's government, short of resources, is trying to make up the shortfall by borrowing. Not only does this not remedy the deficit, it actually creates an additional burden, because the interest on the new debt has to be paid, and that's another hole in the budget... He goes on to criticize the parliamentary proposals ...For over thirty years, the radical and Masonic state has been a cynical exploitation of the unbridled appetites and vices of democracy. Fra Paoli Sarpi said of the rabble: Per farla tacere bisogna otturarli la bocca. To shut them up, you have to fill their mouths. Radicalism has made this cynical maxim its rule of conduct (...). The most certain result of this depravity is the financial crisis against which the Republican party is now fighting, because electioneering is never free. They are horribly expensive (...). When the demagogues of parliament pass law after law to improve the conditions of the workers and pile millions upon millions to ensure their operation, they do not reflect that this unbridled philanthropy opened deep chasms in the budget that would one day have to be filled by increasing taxes... He ends his text by declaring ...It remains for the people of France to know and judge them. But who would dare to say or believe that they would be capable of doing so?...
