BRASSAI (Pseudonym of Gyula Halasz). Born in Brasov (Hungary). 1899-1984. Photographer, painter, writer. L.A.S. "Brassaï" to "Dear Babeth and Léo. Burgenstock, November 8, 1977. 2 1/4 pages in-8 on Bürgenstock Hotels stationery. Brassai writes to his faithful friends from Bürgentock, a small ski resort in Switzerland, where he is staying with his wife, Gilberte: ...After the very successful (sic) show in Geneva in the company of (imagine!) Tino Rossi, Mireille Mathieu and Michèle Morgan last Saturday in "Les Oiseaux de Nuit", we are resting here at 1000 meters above the Lac des 4 cantons... Lartiste goes into a few more details, then laments his recent popularity: ...Alas, since then I can no longer go unnoticed, not even in Zurich... The letter ends with an amusing postscript from Gilbert, his wife: ...Except for the bell cows! Where are the Gstaad times? We'd have to get together sometime...
