BERGSON (Henri). - Lot 46
BERGSON (Henri). Born in Paris. 1859-1941. Graduated in philosophy in 1881 (student of Ravaisson). Professor at the École Normale Supérieure, then at the Collège de France. One of the most famous French philosophers of the first half of the 20th century. His first two works published before 1900, Essai sur les données immédiates de la conscience (1889) and Matière et Mémoire (1896), were enough to make him famous. L.A.S. "H. Bergson" to André Chaumeix. S.l. [Paris], April 19, 1923. 1 p. 1/2 in-8, envelope enclosed. Bergson wants to publish an article in the Revue [la Revue de Paris, directed by Chaumeix] ...My exposé may very well not appear in the Revue until the 15th. If, however, the Minister intended to bring the question before Parliament right away, now that the Conseil Supérieur has given its opinion, it might be in his interest to publish this work as early as May 1st. But I doubt we're in that much of a hurry. I'd be happy to take a look at the proof. I won't keep it for more than an hour..., he promises.
