SEVRES. CAPRAIRE SERVICE. NAPOLEON III Hollow dish in hard porcelain decorated with a frieze of gilded capraires on a midnight-blue ground, central gilded rosette. Sèvres mark in red 1860 under the crowned N, "S 50" mark. H : 3 ; D 15 cm The "capraire" service, named for its decorative motifs, appeared during the First Empire, around 1808. It was subsequently used for royal and imperial services. It is still used today to serve the presidential table at the Elysée Palace.
