GEORGES REMI DIT HERGÉ (1907-1983)
GEORGES REMI DIT HERGÉ (1907-1983) Advertising drawing, produced in the first half of the 1930s. Gouache on paper. D 25 cm This is one of the few known advertising drawings on the market, as Hergé only created this type of illustration in limited quantities at the beginning of his career. We know of a fascicule for the Société nationale des chemins de fer belge and other advertisements, now preserved at the Fondation Hergé for their value as historical archives. The context of his work is a special one. In fact, it was during his youth that he illustrated books on a variety of subjects, before his meeting with Charles Lesne on a train changed the course of his career. Lesne, aware of his talent, offered him the chance to work for Casterman. Status: The piece is accompanied by its certificate of authenticity from the Comité d'authentification des oeuvres d'Hergé, dated January 16, 2024.
