A pupil of Auguste Perret, with whom he collaborated in 1949 on the reconstruction of Le Havre, André Hermant joined the editorial staff of "L'Architecture d'aujourd'hui" in 1932 and became its technical director in 1939. In 1936, he joined the Union des artistes modernes (UAM). In 1945, he was commissioned to present new materials and construction processes at the 1947 Exposition Internationale de l'Habitation et de l'Urbanisme. He was vice-president of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM) from 1948 to 1952, and in 1949 created the "Formes Utiles" section with René Herbst, and was its theoretical director. A fine copy of this "Formes Utiles" manifesto.
