(René Joubert and Philippe Petit) headed by J. Viénot, director of DIM, later a promoter of industrial design in France.
[DIM]. CE TEMPS-CI. Cahiers d'art contemporain. Paris, [DIM], 1928-31. Notebooks with variable pagination (between 20 and 32 pages), almost square format, 29 x 26.5 cm, stapled, titled cover. A fascinating quarterly art magazine (particularly decorative) with an elegant layout and original typography. Published by the decorating house DIM (René Joubert et Philippe Petit), directed by J. Viénot, DIM's administrator and later promoter of industrial design in France.
Continuously paginated (from 1 to 392) throughout its brief existence (publication was interrupted after the death of R. Joubert), the magazine, illustrated with numerous B&W photos (in color for carpets), drawings and often full-page models, was devoted to interior architecture, furniture (mainly created by DIM) and decorative accessories, approached through precise themes assigned to each issue, in this order: The businessman's office / The woman at home / Lighting / Reception rooms / Dinnertime / The carpet / The gentleman's rooms / Metal and ice / Woman and child / The businessman / Varieties / Summer 1931. Featuring associate designers such as J. Besnard, J. Adnet, G. Guévrékian, Le Chevallier, Venini..., Ce temps-ci attracted a number of renowned or prestigious writers, including E. Tisserand, F. Fels, H. Clouzot, L. Cheronnet; Princess Murat, J. Delteil, Ph. Soupault, A. Billy, Ch. Oulmont; photos by Kertèsz and E. Sougez. An invaluable catalog of DIM's furniture production and their talent as interior designers, this complete set of 12 nos. (only available at the Bibliothèque Forney and BnF) is presented in a modern slipcase. Covers (white) of the first 4 issues affected by a few freckles and soiling. Otherwise in very good condition.
