SEVRES. CAPRAIRE SERVICE FOR THE TABLE OF LOUIS PHILIPPE IER Compotier on pedestal in white and midnight-blue porcelain with gilded foliage frieze decoration of capraires. Moulded foot and blue cavet gold. Bottom of the outer bowl white rim with frieze of small palms in gold leaves on a blue background. Inside, gold rosette on white background, frieze of gold flowers and foliage on white background. Sèvres mark 1837, and underglaze 1836, mark on rim "D. 10 9b 36. S ". Diam. 22.5 cm, H 7 cm The "capraire" service, named after its decorative motifs, appeared during the First Empire, around 1808. It was subsequently used for royal and imperial services. It is still used today to serve the presidential table at the Elysée Palace.
