SEVRES. CAPRAIRE SERVICE. NAPOLEON III Hard porcelain teacup decorated with a frieze of gilded capraires on a midnight blue ground, white interior. Gilded handle. Sèvres mark in red 1866 under the crowned N, mark "S 60". H cup : 5, D 9.5 cm The "capraire" service, named after its decorative motifs, appeared during the First Empire, around 1808. It was subsequently used for royal and imperial services. It is still used today to serve the presidential table at the Elysée Palace.
