SEVRES. CAPRAIRE SERVICE FOR THE TABLE OF LOUIS PHILIPPE IER THEN NAPOLEON III A baluster-shaped milk jug with handle and flared spout in hard porcelain with a midnight-blue ground and gilded frieze decoration of capraire foliage. The base is decorated with laurel leaves. Sèvres mark under the base in red letters N under an imperial crown and dated (18)56, molder's mark 1846; royal figure in green of Louis Philippe in the year 1846, underglaze painted mark "24.7b 46. S. ". H 19 cm The "capraire" service, named for its decorative motifs, appeared during the First Empire, around 1808. It was subsequently used for royal and imperial services. It is still used today to serve the presidential table at the Elysée Palace.
