In-4, paperback, cover printed and decorated in black and red. “Les Artistes célèbres” series, edited by Eugène Müntz. A study devoted to Jacques Callot (1592–1635), tracing his life and career as an engraver, particularly his stays in Italy and his work at the court of Lorraine. The volume is accompanied by 51 engravings, reproducing the artist’s drawings and etchings. Among the illustrations is a remarkable large fold-out plate reproducing *The Impruneta Fair* (in Florence), a facsimile of Callot’s etching, as well as *The Jousts of Florence* and various sketches. A paperback copy in its original 1886 publisher’s cover, decorated with an ornate Renaissance border. Minor wear, scuffing, and tears along the edges of the cover; spine and hinges fragile in places. Interior in relatively good condition.
