RENOIR (Auguste). Renoir. - Lot 252
RENOIR (Auguste). Renoir. No place, 1964. Large folio in loose sheets, in a slipcase and the publisher’s fauve imitation-leather case, with a double gilt border framing the front cover and the gilt title “RENOIR.” A major illustrated publication devoted to Auguste Renoir, edited by Louis and Denis Baschet, and produced by Éliane Allegret and Jean Laudat based on a layout by Marcel Chassard. Color reproductions mounted or printed on large plates. The colophon states: “The color and text were printed by the Bobigny printing houses, ‘l’illustration’ and ‘Sapho,’ on coated paper from Papeteries de Lux and offset paper from Papeteries de Montévrain. This edition was completed on November 30, 1964.” Legal deposit no. 4050. A fine set; the folder and slipcase show some scuffing and signs of wear, while the interior pages are well preserved.
