PAUL DELVAUX - Lot 238
PAUL DELVAUX DELVAUX (Paul). Paul Delvaux. Paris, Éditions Filipacchi, [n.d.]. Large quarto, publisher’s hardcover with illustrated dust jacket. Numerous color and black-and-white reproductions. A major monograph devoted to Paul Delvaux, tracing his artistic evolution from his early explorations to the development of his distinctive pictorial world: silent architectures, train stations, female figures, nudes, skeletons, and urban landscapes imbued with a dreamlike atmosphere. The book highlights, in particular, Delvaux’s connections to Giorgio de Chirico, René Magritte, and Surrealism, while demonstrating the uniqueness of his work. The dust jacket is heavily worn, with numerous creases, tears, and missing sections, particularly along the top and bottom flaps and at the corners; the book itself is in good condition.
