MOSCHINI (Vittorio). Drawings by Jacopo Bellini. - Lot 221
MOSCHINI (Vittorio). Drawings by Jacopo Bellini. Bergamo, Istituto Italiano d'Arti Grafiche, “Disegnatori ed incisori italiani” series, no. 2, [20th century]. Large quarto, paperback with printed cloth-bound cover. A monograph devoted to the drawings of Jacopo Bellini (c. 1400–1470), a key figure of the early Venetian Renaissance and father of Gentile and Giovanni Bellini. Edited by Vittorio Moschini, as part of the series edited by Rodolfo Pallucchini. The volume features full-page reproductions of a significant collection of Bellini’s drawings, notably those from his famous sketchbooks, including the Louvre Sketchbook. Architecture, figure studies, religious compositions, horsemen, and narrative scenes attest to the pivotal role of drawing in the development of Renaissance perspective and spatial representation in Venice. Numerous full-page black-and-white reproductions. Copy from the Librería Cruz del Sur, Caracas, with bookstore stamps. Cover slightly faded and rubbed, with small tears and wear along the edges; paper uniformly browned, with some foxing.
