MARINO MARINI - Lot 203
MARINO MARINI MARINI (Marino). Marino Marini. [Italy], Monografie di Artisti Italiani Contemporanei, No. 3, [circa 1950]. Large quarto, decorated gray cardboard binding, cloth spine, title in blue on the front cover. Black-and-white illustrations, some mounted. An early monograph devoted to the Italian painter, engraver, and sculptor Marino Marini, the third volume in the Monografie di Artisti Italiani Contemporanei series. It notably features reproductions of his famous explorations of the theme of the horse and rider, a central motif in his postwar work. A beautifully crafted publication, characteristic of postwar Italian monographs on contemporary art. Unfortunately, this copy is severely disbound: the inner hinge is broken, the book block is separated from the cover, there are traces of adhesive and foxing spots; the cover is rubbed and stained. Needs restoration.
