From Douanier Rousseau to Séraphine: The Great Naïve Masters - Lot 92
From Douanier Rousseau to Séraphine: The Great Naïve Masters. Paris, Gallimard - Culturespaces / Musée Maillol, n.d. Large quarto, publisher’s illustrated cardboard binding. An exhibition catalog dedicated to the leading figures of naïve painting and the “modern primitives,” published on the occasion of the exhibition at the Musée Maillol. Centered on the major figures of Henri Rousseau and Séraphine Louis, the book sheds light on a whole group of artists: Louis Vivin, André Bauchant, Camille Bombois, René Rimbert, Jean Ève, Dominique Peyronnet, and Ferdinand Desnos. Richly illustrated in color, with numerous full-page reproductions. An interesting overview of this self-taught art form, which occupied a unique place in 20th-century modernity. A few slight signs of wear on the cover; a good copy.
