The Masterpieces of the Royal Picture Gallery in Dresden. Dresden, [circa 1900]. Large quarto, publisher’s red cloth binding, title, coat of arms, and gilt decorations on the front cover. An album dedicated to the masterpieces of the Royal Picture Gallery in Dresden, showcasing the major European schools represented in the collections: Italian, Flemish, Dutch, German, and others. Numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions, accompanied by captions in German and English. Among the works reproduced are paintings by Palma Vecchio, Carlo Dolci, Johannes Verkolje, and numerous Old Masters. An interesting record of the presentation and attributions of the Dresden collections at the turn of the 20th century. Provenance: handwritten inscription on the half-title page: “Dresden—Nov. 1900,” preceded by a signature. Binding is slightly scuffed and faded in places; corners are worn; some foxing and signs of wear inside.
