CALI (François) — The Flamboyant Order and Its Era: An Essay - Lot 56
CALI (François) — The Flamboyant Order and Its Era: An Essay on the Gothic Style from the 14th to the 16th Century Paris, Arthaud, n.d. [20th century]. Large quarto, publisher’s binding with a color-illustrated photographic dust jacket. Extensive black-and-white and color photographic illustrations, including numerous full-page and double-page reproductions. A fine study by François Cali devoted to the development of the Flamboyant Gothic style from the 14th to the 16th century, examined through the lens of architecture, sculpture, painting, stained glass, and the decorative arts. A particularly rich work from an iconographic perspective, illustrating the major monuments of the late Middle Ages as well as numerous architectural details and painted or sculpted works. Dust jacket shows scuffing and minor wear on the top and bottom flaps, corners, and edges; binding and interior appear to be in good condition.
