The first volume includes, notably, *Le Joueur*, *Le Distrait*, and *Le Retour imprévu*; the second includes, notably, *Les Ménechmes ou les Jumeaux*. Carefully printed on fine laid paper, with typographical ornamentation. A very attractive copy in red half-maroquin with corner pieces, a ribbed spine, and gilt title, volume number, and fleurons; covers of polychrome marbled paper, with the top likely gilt. Gilt “P. L.” monogram at the bottom. The bindings are very fresh and decorative; a few foxing spots or small interior marks are visible. The Jouaust / Librairie des Bibliophiles collection is prized for its typography and is frequently found in attractive late-19th-century bibliophile bindings.
