A meticulously typeset edition, illustrated with a portrait of Fontenelle engraved after Rigaud and with compositions and ornamentation by G. Gorvel. Limited edition of 1,939 copies, announced as not to be reprinted: 14 on Chine paper, 375 on Rives paper, and 1,550 on Navarre-colored paper. Copy no. 1,899, thus one of the 1,550 printed on Navarre-tinted paper. Bound in dark green half-maroquin with corner pieces, ribbed spine, gilt title, and covers of paper decorated in shades of green. A simple and elegant binding; some scuffing on the spine and ribs. Interior in fresh condition.
