NAPOLEON III - Lot 241
NAPOLEON III Coffee table with folding leaves. Solid wood frame with marquetry. The rectangular tabletop features a rich ornamental design of inlays in green-stained wood, lemonwood, and sycamore, depicting a musical trophy consisting of a guitar, drum, and cymbals set on a cut-out leather background surrounded by broad foliage scrolls. The background of the tabletop is decorated with diamond-shaped latticework forming a trellis pattern. The piece opens with a drawer along the base and rests on four tapered, fluted legs with multiple steps accented by bronze rings. The entire piece is held together by a sinuous “8”-shaped crossbar centered with an antique-style vase in the spirit of Wesweiller’s designs. The top of the tabletop is protected by a cut-glass panel in a later period style. In excellent condition, with no missing or peeling veneer; a few scratches on the upper right corner of the tabletop. Late 19th century Dimensions: H 74 - L 71.5 (L with flaps 115) - W 54 cm Item to be picked up in Touraine
