MÉDIONI (Gilbert) — The Tarascan Art of Western Mexico - Lot 227
MÉDIONI (Gilbert) — The Tarascan Art of Western Mexico Paris, Paul Hartmann Éditeur, 1952. In-8 (approx. 25.5 × 18 cm), paperback, illustrated cover. First edition. 7 ff. unnumbered, one map, and 48 pages of plates reproducing 93 photographs by the author. A study devoted to the pre-Columbian art of western Mexico, richly illustrated with sculptures and terracotta pieces: human figures, mother-and-child figures, animals, and ritual representations. This work continues to be cited as a reference source for certain works from western Mexico; pieces reproduced by Médioni still appear in specialized auction catalogs. A good copy. The cover is slightly faded and soiled, with a few small marks and scuffs; the interior is clean and well-preserved.
