NORWEGIAN ART — A THOUSAND YEARS OF VIKING TRADITION - Lot 36
NORWEGIAN ART — A THOUSAND YEARS OF VIKING TRADITION [MUSÉE DES ARTS DÉCORATIFS]. — Norwegian Art. A Thousand Years of Viking Tradition. Paris, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, March–May 1954. Quarto, paperback, with a color-illustrated cover. Catalog of the major Franco-Norwegian exhibition held at the Museum of Decorative Arts under the high patronage of King Haakon VII. Catalog compiled by Roar Hauglid, with texts by François Carnot and Halvard Lange; printed by Presses artistiques. Numerous black-and-white photographic reproductions, presenting a broad overview of Norwegian art since the Viking Age: wood carving, furniture, religious art, textiles, and decorative arts. Interesting documentation, particularly on the famous carved decorations of Norwegian medieval churches. A fine copy. Some foxing and soiling, small marks and creases on the cover; an old handwritten annotation at the top of the title page.
