VALENSI (Théodore). - Lot 296
VALENSI (Théodore). Tunis, 1886–1959. French lawyer, politician, and member of parliament. Member of the Socialist Republican Group. A victim of anti-Semitic persecution during the Occupation, he was arrested in 1941 and interned at Drancy. Autographed card in his name. No place, no date, 1 page. A short congratulatory card addressed to a correspondent on the occasion of an appointment, in which Valensi expresses sentiments that are both formal and friendly: “…My most sincere congratulations on your appointment (…) Please accept my warmest regards and my most cordial and devoted regards… ” A simple yet noteworthy letter from a political figure who left his mark on 20th-century history, particularly through the persecutions he endured during the Occupation.
