QUESNAY DE BEAUREPAIRE (Jules). Saumur, 1834 – Paris, 1923. French magistrate and writer. Autograph letter signed “Jules Quesnay de Beaurepaire,” addressed to “My dear colleague.” Paris, July 20, 1890. 1 page ¾ in-8. An interesting letter of both a professional and personal nature in which Quesnay de Beaurepaire thanks his correspondent for his congratulations and echoes the high praise received from the Attorney General, commending the distinguished position his correspondent has attained at the Court of Besançon. The tone, both courteous and warm, reflects the high regard he holds for him, while also providing insight into the customs and networks of the legal world in the late 19th century. The letter continues with more personal news regarding his wife’s health; although her condition remains fragile, it is showing signs of improvement, raising hopes for an upcoming stay in the countryside. This alternation between professional matters and family concerns lends the document a notable human dimension.
