MÉZIÈRES, Alfred. (Rehon, Meurthe-et-Moselle, 1826 – Paris, 1915) Journalist, politician, president of the Association of Parisian Journalists, co-founder of *Le Temps*, deputy and later senator for Meurthe-et-Moselle. Autograph note signed “A. Mézières,” addressed to “Dear Sir.” Paris, February 9 [circa 1910]. 1 page, oblong in-16 format, with the Senate’s printed letterhead. A brief, practical note in which Mézières mentions a missed visit by Mme de Jouvenel and asks his correspondent to convey a message to her: “Please be so kind as to tell her that I will be home that day before eleven o’clock.” This type of brief, functional correspondence illustrates the social network of a public figure of the Third Republic, blending political, journalistic, and social connections.
