MEYER-DÜR (Rudolf Ludwig). (1812–1885) Swiss entomologist, specialist in Hemiptera, Orthoptera, and Neuroptera. Founding member of the Swiss Entomological Society. Signed autograph letter Burgdorf, December 1, 1872. 4 pages, in-8 format, in German. Addressed to a colleague. Scientific correspondence An interesting letter from a leading entomologist of the second half of the 19th century, devoted to his scientific work and exchanges. Meyer-Dür, a renowned specialist in Swiss entomological fauna, discusses in this correspondence his research and likely observations or exchanges regarding insects, a field to which he made a decisive contribution. It should be noted that: - he devoted most of his work to the study of Swiss insects - he accompanied Jules Pictet on a collecting trip to Spain (1859) - his collections are now housed in several major institutions: Zurich, Bern, Dresden, Cambridge, and New York
