LEVASSEUR (Pierre-Émile). (Paris, 1828–1911) Historian and economist, professor at the Collège de France, member of the Institut de France, specialist in economic and social history. Signed autograph letter, addressed to “My dear colleague.” No place [Paris], November 28, 1861. 1 page, in-8 format. Enclosed: a printed document from the Paris Geographical Society. Scholarly correspondence and academic network An interesting letter from Pierre-Émile Levasseur, a leading figure in 19th-century French economic history, reflecting his connections within Parisian scholarly and scientific circles. In this letter, Levasseur asks his correspondent to kindly remind him of Mrs. Cornu’s address—whom he describes as “a kind person, who is witty and open-minded”—so that he may pay her his respects.
