Partially printed document, signed “Émile Loubet,”
Paris, September 16, 1902,
1 page, large in-plano format,
superb ornate printed border.
A very fine official document bearing the letterhead: “French Republic—National Order of the Legion of Honor”
with, in the center, a depiction of the decoration and the motto: “Honor and Fatherland”
Certificate of Knight of the Legion of Honor awarded to:
Léon Stoffel, squadron commander,
assistant professor of military history, strategy, and general tactics at the École supérieure de guerre.
Certificate signed by President Émile Loubet, with the countersignature of the Grand Chancellor.
A very beautiful decorative piece, particularly interesting due to its recipient’s dual military and academic background.
In fine overall condition, with typical age-related creases; excellent presentation.
