Faidherbe,” Paris, April 7, 1880. 1 large folio-sized vellum sheet (approx. 40 x 32 cm), with a beautiful engraved border vignette. A very fine official document from the Third Republic appointing: LOUCHARD, Edme Victor, lieutenant colonel of artillery, a native of Saints, Somme department, to the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honor, by decree of February 3, 1880. A very fine presentation typical of the Republic’s grand certificates, adorned with a wide decorative border and the central motif of the insignia. Signed by: Jules Grévy, President of the Republic Louis Faidherbe, Grand Chancellor of the Order A beautiful piece that is both decorative and historically interesting, bringing together two major figures of 19th-century French political and military life.
