LACOMBE (Paul). (1834–1919) French historian and archivist. Autograph letter signed “Paul Lacombe” addressed to a correspondent. Paris, February 10, 1917. 2 pp., in-8, on letterhead of the Société de l’Histoire de Paris et de l’Île-de-France. A business letter in which Lacombe responds to a request for information regarding publications acquired in 1915. He states: “ The two volumes you purchased […] are a ‘war-time’ publication; under normal circumstances, our volumes are much more substantial.” He discusses the publishing difficulties associated with the conflict, the society’s limited resources, and distinguishes between membership dues and subscriptions. He announces that he will send the articles of incorporation and the bylaws.
