MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR - Lot 239
MINISTRY OF THE INTERIOR (Minister’s Office—signature unidentified) Signed typewritten letter, Paris, November 22, 1917. One-page letter on quarto-sized paper bearing the letterhead of the Office of the Minister of the Interior, dated November 22, 1917, signed by a staff member of the Office whose identity could not be established with certainty. Address at the bottom of the page: Mr. E. Barbet. A short courtesy letter in which the author thanks his correspondent for the congratulations he received and, in return, expresses his most sincere thanks and best regards. A modest but interesting example of the official correspondence exchanged between the Office of the Minister of the Interior and a private correspondent during World War I, illustrating the protocols and relationships maintained by the highest levels of the government under the Third Republic.
