COLLET (Concordat priest) - Lot 82
COLLET (Concordat priest) Original letter to Citizen Morel. Lyon, 12 Pluviôse, Year X (February 1, 1802). 4 pages, in-4 format, on a double-leaf sheet with a handwritten address on the reverse. An important letter addressing Lyon’s administration, religious affairs, and personal concerns. Collet discusses the consequences of the First Consul’s visit to Lyon and details the decisions made regarding public institutions, hospitals, secondary schools, riverbanks, and urban development projects. He also mentions several political and administrative figures in the Rhône department, as well as the rivalries surrounding future local appointments. At the same time, the author tracks the progression of Madame Poupier’s illness, providing detailed updates on her condition. Several passages concern the affairs of Citizen Morel, notably his properties, his income, and the administrative steps taken on his behalf. Particularly noteworthy is the discussion of Corelle’s future ecclesiastical roles and the hopes for religious reorganization that were then stirring within the Diocese of Lyon. A document rich in information on the consular administration in Lyon.
